This week we were invited by the Coral Sea Advisory Committee to give a talk and make recommendations concerning the current and future protection of Osprey Reef in the Coral Sea.
Richard gave a well received presentation summary on all the shark research that has been achieved at Osprey Reef over the past 20 years. He was invited to make recommendations concerning those parts of the reef that are of the highest ecological value and most significantly in need of protection.
After many years of what has been simply a “gentleman’s agreement” between those in tourism and those in the fishing industry, it is exciting and promising to know that positive steps are being taken to put standard policies and procedures in place to protect this wondrous atoll with its bounty of diverse and stunning wildlife.
